I follow Josephine on Instagram. We own a pizzeria in Virginia. My husband opened it 14 years ago- when I was pregnant with our first son. Since opening, my husband is always at the store. He’s missed many moments of our children’s lives. He has a hard time remembering them when they were small. He started having seizures from the stress of working 14, 15 hour days. It’s so hard on him. But he says he does it for me and the boys. Be kind to restaurant owners – you don’t know the sacrifices they make in their own lives to feed you.. A reminder that everyone’s life is a heartfelt story with hidden stories. When my kids and I go to New York, we will have SO MANY places to visit! Thanks Brandon. For everything.. I LOVE IT!! No matter what your “job” is in life, you can still make a positive impact on those around you. Never underestimate yourself or your position in life.. Success, freedom, beauty, purpose all things that the media, the world, THEY, have put some sort of box around. How it ‘should’ look. Well, in my opinion all those ‘words’ we aspire to have many, many paths and outcomes.. In this interview alone, you have shared so many stories. It looks like you could write and illustrate your own books while you are helping your father’s pizzeria business.. Sometimes where we ” ended up” is so much more fulfilling to ourselves and others then what we had ” dreamed of”.. I frequent Lenny’s. They’re such cool and nice people. They’re friendly and kind to people in the community. Her dad is there from time to time, still working. Such an awesome sight. They compliment each other! This is one of my favorite pizzerias in Bensonhurst, born and raised if your wondering .. I remember Josephine from the old neighborhood. I’d go in for a slice and she was kind of like my reflection on the other side of the counter. A lot has changed since I moved away, but Lenny’s is still there. Josephine is holding it down. She’s one of the reasons it’s still real on 86th. We see you, Jo. Thanks for the pizza, and the memories.. The stories are the reason that New York will live forever.. It’s too bad that desk jobs are glamorized and service jobs are minimized in our culture. Pay is grossly unfair. But I’m glad she has a heart to do what she does seriously, where would this world be without pizza?? . She was getting a lot more than just a slice of pizza. It was probably the highlight of her day and meant more to her than you know.
