I’m a native NYer from LI, who for various reasons moved to Tampa 5 yrs ago. 2 months ago I moved back north and am focusing on getting “home”. I missed everything about home (except cost of living and home prices lol). Went into the city 2 weeks ago, walking around Greenwich Village near tears, so happy to be back. and SO PROUD of my fellow NYers for wearing their masks!!! bc that sure wasn’t the case in Florida.. I was born in the Bronx but at 31 I married a man from the heartland of America. New York is such a special place and I’m proud to be a New Yorker. I haven’t been to NYC since 1985, but I’m still a New Yorker. I’m thrilled to hear the greatest city is coming back! Thank you so much, Brandon, for posting this. No one can keep a good thing down. This is great, but there are some real concerns that need to be addressed with regards to QOL in the city. Would be great if you included groups like in your work. There’s no greater city in the world! I . A feeling is one thing and I hope you can keep that feeling, but facts are facts and crime is through the roof. They are not shock headlines. Shootings and murders have increased significantly, don’t create a false narrative. Hope is one thing and with NY being my hometown I hope it is always a vibrant place, but that is not the truth, it’s not as safe as it should be and businesses are really suffering. Ignoring that fact will only make it worse, we need to acknowledge it and fix it. Keep highlighting New Yorkers, cause there’s so many great people here! Love Humans of NY!

Thank you. I loved the interaction with MTA bus drivers especially when they commented every stop and sang or talked to passengers over the mic . We’re so quick to complain and write negative reviews about our customer service experiences. I try to go out of my way to make sure that I praise when praise is due as well. A few months ago, the owner of a local McDonald’s actually called me to tell me how much it made her day when she read my survey praising her staff and that she was excited to share what I wrote with them. My survey response made her day, her call made my day – kindness is contagious! Praise your service workers, folks! They take a lot of BS oftentimes for a low wage!. Dude COVID or not, you are a powerful person. You help the city run. You help give it its energy. You bring joy to people. You are my hero. Thank you.
