AMAZING how someone can come to this country with nothing, not even speak the language and work hard and not be a drain on society. Men like this are the reason why I have no sympathy for complaining Americans that say we lack opportunity. He’s proof that’s it’s here for those who want it. I wish him the absolute best for his future and that of his family.. That store looks like it has some things I have been looking for! I’ll visit soon.. I will be there sometime this week. What are his store hours?. I’m one of Henry’s repeat customers .and I don’t even live in NYC. I’ve been going to his shop for about 10 years now. I saw him last just before the pandemic and we had a great conversation about finding success in the US. He was very proud speaking about what his children were studying and was very happy to know about my story, how my father immigrated to NYC from Honduras and what I had done with my life. He told me he was proud of me and like always, he really warmed my heart. I’ll see him again soon to buy my third scarf or fourth pair of fingerless gloves (that I probably don’t need!) just so I can say hi and have his infectious personality make my day. I would go into the store if I lived in New York. Be brave Henry. Just 30 minutes and the fundraiser is almost at its goal. So happy!!! I can’t wait to visit New York again and check out this mans store.. There are many different grants and such for business owners in the stimulus packages. Check for New York. My husband has been frequenting the store for many years, coincidentally he went in on Saturday, 6/5 and remarked how much he loved the store and how friendly and wonderful the shopkeeper was! I love how much he loves his regulars. He’s not just making them feel appreciated, he actually appreciates them, and that’s why they’ve come back time after time all these years. I hope you make it Henry!. And just like that everyone marks their maps for when we travel to New York next. I hope you’re still open when Australians like me can visit.. I wish there was a way I could purchase merchandise but I do not live in NYC and have no way of getting there any time soon.. Love that HONY is doing this! We can do more.
