Imad is a very generous soul.. Humans of New York I have been to Chess Forum while I was a student at NYU 12-13 years ago. I bought a chess clock from there. I remember the kind person at the shop taking time to explain to me in detail about the clock. Maybe it was Imad whom I met that day, many years ago!

As I was reading this, I thought this is still happening to any number of young children in Gaza and the occupied territories. This brutal occupation and ongoing displacement has to stop. Beautiful story, the heartbreak of the trauma of children of Palestine . The bombs that were dropped on him and his family continue to drop to this day. In the words of Anthony Bourdain, how much longer will the world continue to rob the Palestinians of their humanity? This isn’t a story about Robin Williams, it’s a story of genocide and apartheid that has spanned decades and continues to be tolerated by the world.. Oh my! So much to unpack here. Brother, father, bombs, chess, Robin Williams, Palestinian boy, etc. I don’t even play chess but if I’m in NYC Imad’s shop is on my list. I love this story.My heart aches for the people of Palestine. Marie Sorrendino. Robin Williams and his work impacted so many lives in a positive way. I still miss him. I always will.. Margot Gregory I had a moment when I thought “I really hope Robin Williams sees this post and responds to this amazing man”. Please know that his death was not due to a temporary mindset. Robin Williams had a rare and fatal brain disease, Lewy Body Dementia. His death was imminent. It was not a treatable and preventable suicide, but an end stage brain atrophy illness.. From Mork and Mindy: “I don’t know how much value I have in this universe, but I do know that I made a few people happier than they would have been without me.” – line delivered by Mork (Robin’s character). Imad, thank you for sharing your story. We bought a chess set from you several years ago on a visit to NYC and it has pride of place in our home.
