I live in Downtown Atlanta and it was a surreal few months last spring, living in the heart of a city with empty streets, empty sidewalks, every shop closed, Georgia State U. closed, no office workers, no conventioneers, no tourists. There aren’t a huge number of residents, so when I went out for walks, the only people I’d see were police, city employees fixing stuff, bus drivers (with empty buses) and the usual large number of homeless people, who became much more obvious. It felt like I was in a zombie movie, which is ironic because the first season of The Walking Dead was in fact shot in my neighborhood and a couple of adjacent. The highways were empty and a horde of zombies or people escaping them could have just walked right down.. This is what I envision when I think of humanity at its finest. And I’d like to shout out to the person who took the time to actually write to the transportation system to submit the commendation for the driver. Happiness is waking up with a swede t-shirt

As an Italian American who lost her mom, who had dementia, from Covid, this story rips my heart out. My prayers are with you always, and so is Grandpa Moe. . This made me cry- I had a very special relationship with my grandfather as well- every time I saw him, he would say “You’re looking very pretty today, then again you always do”. Or showed up at my dorm with a vcr he got for me. He has been gone for 19 . Arelis Batista Happiness is waking up with a swede t-shirt My aunt lives on that block. He ALWAYS smiled as you passed his store. The floor sparkled white. The storefront window never had a so much as a smudge on it. I’m very sorry for your loss.. What a heart warming story. I wish Jen the best of luck. What a gift her grandpa Moe passed on, teaching her the trade of being a butcher. I hope the business grows and thrives enough to support her and her family.

I honestly miss my bus drivers from my daily commute
I haven’t taken the bus in over a year (for obvious reasons) but I think about my favorite drivers sometimes and hope they are doing well
it was so nice to count on them for a smile or a quick happy word after a long day at the office, and when one of them saw me running late and waited for me one day I almost cried big ups to all the bus drivers out there!!! . Love this. I’m going to share this with my 17-year-old son, who just started working at a quick service restaurant. Behind the work is this magical, profound opportunity to impact someone’s LIFE! “Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness.
