This is one of my favorite pizzerias in Bensonhurst, born and raised if your wondering .. I remember Josephine from the old neighborhood. I’d go in for a slice and she was kind of like my reflection on the other side of the counter. A lot has changed since I moved away, but Lenny’s is still there. Josephine is holding it down. She’s one of the reasons it’s still real on 86th. We see you, Jo. Thanks for the pizza, and the memories.. The stories are the reason that New York will live forever.. It’s too bad that desk jobs are glamorized and service jobs are minimized in our culture. Pay is grossly unfair. But I’m glad she has a heart to do what she does seriously, where would this world be without pizza?? . She was getting a lot more than just a slice of pizza. If ever there was a Monday we all needed to see her again.. this is one of them. . Amelia Inoa. “It don’t mean a thang, if you don’t got that Tang.” I love it!!. Before I even began to read, I saw my boo and honestly knew, this was about to be lit!!!. that’s the spirit! So glad she is back on HONY. she is totally a Survivor! I needed to see this today. She is inspirational. With that attitude she will make it to 100+ years old.. Day madeI wondered how she was doing. Your Dad would be very proud of you. . I hear you. Life is the human connection, no matter what the job,the profession. Your purpose is in your ability to bring comfort and joy to people. You are their home.. “Brooklyn Italian”!! . Life is in the details. It is about the small things we do. You knew Marlene better than anyone and her life was better because of you. We all should make as many connections as possible. It is what makes life real. . “You don’t get that sitting @ a desk w/ a bunch of 40 year olds”. You don’t get that if you dont take an interest in the ppl you run across day to day. That is what life & community are all about. How i miss you New york!. All too many people insult New York, and accuse it of being a cold, impersonal place. And somehow less than “really” American. Those people don’t know Lenny’s. They don’t know 86th Street. And they don’t know the thousands of similar places in our great city, operated and patronized by all sorts of human beings from all over the globe.
