I always say, if you are lucky enough to have grand parents, spend as much time as humanly possible with them. They are our history This makes my heart ache. It’s hard to conceptualize the huge numbers of people who’ve died from covid-19–almost 600,000 in the US, 3.71 million in the world—but every single one of them has a story and people who loved them that are left behind to carry on with the loss. May we remember all of the Grandpa Moes with love and help all of the Jens to heal. . This is wholesome in so many ways . Sad to hear grandpa Moe is no longer here but glad to know his legacy still remains and shines through you! . I love to see these micro-communities within the busiest city in the world. From the way she describes it, it could be a small town. I love seeing neighbors taking care of each other.

What a touching and sweet story! I’m so sorry for your family’s loss, and so grateful for the time you spent together with your dear grandpa in the end!. Get ready to feel the support of your neighbors from around the world . This is so great ! My family has been going to this butcher shop for decades when it was Moe and his mom Mary. Great story Jen!. Beautiful story. Would love to stop next time I am in NYC.. I’m very fortunate to have had steaks from Moe when I dated my ex (who grew up around the corner from the shop). They were perfectly marbled and absolutely delicious. I remember seeing Moe passing on NBC Nightly News and hoping that the shop would survive. What a fantastic piece – please visit Albanese Meats if you can!. Sobbing. I lost my grandfather last year too. . Awww!! I used to live on the street where your and Great lived. Or where the Butcher shop was. I have fond memories of them and shopped their a lot. Your Great always sat outside the shop and we chat. Google Maps shows her and her grandfather sitting out front. What a wonderful relationship. I’m sure he’s still watching.. He must have been so pleased to have this generational connection – to see his accomplishments push forward into a future beyond him. Proud grandfather!. There’s nothing quite like the love of a grandfather. Grandparents are special people. Much love to you all. He’s always with you. . This one gave me a lump in my throat for happy, sad & bittersweet reasons!! We are rooting for you Jen & absolutely believe Grampa Moe is watching over you!!
