I saw this tweet from Lyndsey Gallant, @apocalynds: I wanna share something my therapist said about anger that blew my mind: “Your anger is the part of you that knows your mistreatment and abuse are unacceptable. Your anger knows you deserve to be treated well, and with kindness. Your anger is a part of you that LOVES you.”. Don’t forget that you also are a hero. Your brother’s hero and protector, as he is yours. Someone to carry pain and love with.. Ahhh! She’s after my own heart. She’s entitled to be angry and is absolutely not obligated to forgive that man for what he did to them. She can live life unburdened by her anger, it’s possible. She seems to be doing it. Let her feel her feelings and let her carry the anger. I agree with her.. As I’ve been reading this, I just KNEW this child abuser would have spent very minimal time in prison. Your feelings are your feelings, and all should respect that. You are such a beautiful and good soul.. This is such a bittersweet story. I hope for healing for this brave woman. And I agree with her, anyone who beats up a baby should suffer more consequences than that pos did.. Kelly Lee Ann Bunch. I wish there was some kind of emotional GoFundMe where we could all donate a bit of space to hold her anger for her, just so she could breathe without it.. I teach kindergarten and I often have this conversation with my children. Accepting an forgiveness is something that YOU have to be ok withno one else. If it takes you 10 minutes. or 10 .the choice is yours and it’s a choice that isn’t made lightly. Hugs to you. You are an amazing sister. . Gene once protected you but you have been looking after him ever since. He has lived a better life because you were so caring, loving and protective of him. Thank you for sharing your story. I dont think the poster means it to sound judgmental, I think the post is well meaning and supportive in intent. But the words used do carry with them implied judgment.. Dairy Carrie I think what’s dividing people is your underlying premise that a person can only be at peace by letting go of their anger. There are plenty of people who can channel their anger into something productive; there’s even a term for it in psychology: sublimation. For some, channeled anger brings far more peace than trying to follow society’s misguided and damaging assumption that one has to “let go.”.
