This kind of story is such a reminder to put things in perspective. As a nation, we have spent over a year complaining about masks and isolation. We talk about the effects on our kids and the loss of our freedom. Do we even understand how blessed we have been?. I’m sorry you weren’t able to tell him in this realm. But I’m sure Mr. Williams knows now.. what a poignant story. . Sending healing vibes and prayers to all our fellow human beings around the world still living in the shadow of war. Heather Spiegel. Your trauma hits my heart and I know that we carry the trauma no matter how much time that pass. Your words are beautiful..and I think maybe the smile to Robin was more powerful because you acknowledged him but was respectful of his time with his young daughter that you didn’t want to intrude on them. May Robin be at peace and prayers for the Palestinians to find their peace and freedom soon. I think a tragic thing about Robin was that he did know that he made an impact, and didn’t want to leave this world less than what we had come to love. Dementia and Parkinson’s would have, and had been, deteriorating him and he didn’t want his story to go that way so he controlled the ending.. What a deeply powerful narrative. When Robin Williams died, it felt like losing an uncle. It felt like losing an absolutely integral part of my childhood.. I don’t know. We’ve lost a lot of celebrities, a lot of well known people who impacted and improved millions of lives. But the impact Robin had seems to come up more often, to run deeper, and reach further. It’s as though he inhabited two worlds, like he knew a secret, which he was always teaching, that made him seem just a little bit magic. Bless you and your family.. Robin Williams had Lewy Body Dementia, it wasn’t only depression that caused his suicide. He wouldn’t have lived long on any case. That gives me a little comfort. I’m a big fan as well.. my heart and prayers go to each child, even those who did not survive: You are remembered.. He had to have known on some level just how much he meant to the world. Just how much he effected us. I like to think he would have loved to know that in a way he was with you on your darkest day. I can’t even imagine what you and your family went through. It is truly a blessing that you are still with this world though. Someone needed you to stay.
